The latest GoPro Hero10 is in my hands, but it’s an entirely new world for me. I bought it a few days ago and found it an exceptional, standard, and ideal camera for travel and routine capturing. I am doing almost every type of photography and videography with this tiny GoPro Hero10. Surprisingly, very few people know that GoPro can also be used for vlogging. The fun part is that you can use it anywhere and anytime, even underwater. It took a lot of a couple of days to learn and understand this tiny beast. Each time I use it, a new question bumped into my mind. I did a lot of research to learn the functionalities of Hero10. The motivation for this write-up is, to combine the most Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about GoPro Hero 10 in a single place. The moment I bought the Hero10, some noobs questions came into mind, I have sure having similar queries rushed your mind after or before having an action camera of GoPro Hero.
How much does a GoPro Hero10 Cost?
It costs about USD 349 from the GoPro official store; I do get benefits and save bucky by buying from the GoPro official store. But you can obtain it from a local vendor as well.
How to transfer files from GoPro Hero 8/9/10 to Windows PC or MacBook?
There are two ways to transfer files from any GoPro hero device to Windows PC or MacBook. The only way to you wants to transfer files between, go pro to your PC, you need the original Type- C cable that comes with your GoPro device. Remember that transferring files without having the original data/charging cable is not possible. In case of non-availability of cable, the captured videos and photos can also be transferred using a micro-SD card adapter, by mounting the adapter in the port/slot provided in your laptop or card reader.
Is go pro completely waterproof?
After Hero (2014), All the versions of GoPro Hero are waterproof. The maximum water depth is varied as per modes like GoPro Hero10 can dive 10 meters (33 feet) long. Surprisingly, it works well in water for 33 feet long. However, a case can increase the underwater duration up to an hour. The below video is a first time underwater test of GoPro Hero10.
What is the maximum battery life of the GoPro Hero10?
As per my own experience while recording on 4K at 30FPS, factory enabled features, 20° C temperature and brand-new GoPro Hero10, it took about 40 minutes to drain the battery. However, GoPro Hero battery draining highly depends on the environment, recording preset and enabled features. The battery drains very quickly in very hot and cold weather. The recommended temperature written on the GoPro Hero10 manual is 14° F ~ 95° F (-10° C ~ 35° C). While it dies rapidly if recording in 4K or 5K with very hot weather high frame rate, enabled hyper-smooth, Wi-Fi and voice command features.
How many Megapixels is GoPro Hero10?
Surprisingly, it has 23.6 Megapixels for photography with amazing results. It has better and more impressive results in daylight with natural and neutral colours, sharper details, and awesome contrast. Hero10 is packed with a standard sensor size of 1/2.3″ (0.43 inches (1.09 cm)) and an f/2.5 aperture. Surprisingly, GoPro Hero10 is the only version having an f/2.5 aperture, whereas all other GoPro Hero have only an f/2.8 aperture.
Is GoPro Hero10 good for photography?
Yes, it’s a great photographing tool for capturing Landscapes, Actions, and Night Photography only because the primary purpose of GoPro is to capture and record action moments. Sadly, it is not a good choice for Portraits and close shots. The 23-Megapixel, 1/2.3” sensor, HDR, natural colour, RAW support and High Stabilization provide super doper amazing results for Night Photography (Long exposure) as well. While capturing photos and videos, the minimum distance from the subject at least should be 1.5 feet (ca. 46 cm), otherwise, the subject appears blurry. The best thing about Hero10 is that it supports RAW format with GPR extension. GPR stands for General purpose RAW format, sadly it only works in the wide lens. Keep in mind that GoPro does not support 360 capturing. There is a separate device GoPro Hero-Max for capturing 360 moments, but the ultra-wide lens allows photographers to capture the broad spectrum.
Does GoPro Hero10 have a zoom feature?
Obliviously Yes! The zoom feature of Hero10 can be used for both capturing video and photos, but without having optical zoom, like DSLRs. It uses the digital zoom feature by switching between Lenses, which are Narrow, Linear, Wide and Super View, as there is no real optical Zoom in Hero10.

Personally, YES, it is one of the best cameras for vlogging. Because it is one of the best choices for action and outdoor vloggers, particularly where proper and visible light. is GoPro Hero10 good in low light or support night vision?
Simply NO, there is no low light or night vision supported in any GoPro hero action device. And never trust any GoPro device for recording in low light situations, particularly an indoor stage event or concert. Since it is designed and focused only on outdoor and action movements with suitable light. An external light, like GoPro Light mode, can add light only for a few feet. Although the latest Hero10 has dedicated Night Mode also shutter speed and pro setting that can be adjusted manually for optimal video quality in low light conditions. But it failed to deliver a considerable result. Consequently, use Hero10 wisely when there is proper light. Concludingly, never ever use GoPro for indoor and poor lighting locations.
Does GoPro Hero10 have GPS?
Yes, it is equipped with an excellent internal GPS feature. Unlike mobile phone GPS, the GoPro GPS is used for collecting telemetry information on video, the information consists of GPS coordinates, altitudes, speed, and elevation. However, it cannot be used to track or locate the stolen or missing GoPro.
Don’t worry, you can track and locate your GoPro Hero10 device within a range of 10 meters. It can be located and tracked using Quick App via locating camera feature. Sadly, it can locate the camera only if within the app range.

Yes, it works well with Micro-HDMI to HDMI cable, which requires media mode. Please do remember that Type – C to HDMI cables do not work, so avoid wasting both time and money, as I did. There are five 05 multiple ways to watch GoPro recorded videos on a smart TV, like Micro HDMI to HDMI Cable via Media Mode for smart TVs and Composite RCA cable for older TVs. Either by transferring it into a USB flash drive or inserting a micro-SD card into an SD Card adapter and then mounting it at the card slot located on the TV. The best way to play GoPro recorded videos on TV is to transfer the files to a USB flash drive and then attach the USB to the port of the TV.
How long does a 32 GB SD card last in a GoPro?
A 32 GB card can hold up to 35 minutes of video of 4K resolution, 100 fps, Hight bit rate and High Sharpness. Whereas it records approx. 56 minutes of video of 1080 resolution 100 fps, Hight bit rate and High Sharpness. The lasting of storage capacity depends on the size and quality of a video. Specially bitrate (number of bits per second while recording a video) and sharpness (intensity of pixels to make the photo clear) take too much storage.
Why does GoPro split up the long videos?
There are two main factors for splitting up a video into chunks or chapters while recording. The first one is due to the file size limitation of FAT32 file system because it supports 2^32 counted as 4 GB. Thus, it splits the videos as soon as it reaches the size of 4 GB. Another factor is chaptering, an international standard for dividing video into well-balanced chunks to avoid corrupting or destroying the complete footage. Remember, GoPro shatters the video recording into chunks by size, not by duration.
